UNDERSTANDING MEEKNESS

                                                                       MEEKNESS

Take my yoke upon you and learn of me for I am meek and lowly in heart  and ye shall find rest unto your soul .Matthew 11:29 .

As we draw closer to the second coming of Christ it is important that we remind ourselves of the expectations, God has of us as believers.  Beloveth this is very important as a christian there is need to constantly search our selves how we do things,  the way we carry our selves .

The Bible say" but mark this there will be terrible times in the last days people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful,  proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents,  ungrateful, unholy, 2 Timothy 3:2-3 .

But in all  God expect us to be different, because it is so easy to forget that this  world is not our home , Jesus gave a specific instruction in how our live should be on earth  which we will be looking at in the next few weeks.

What does it mean to be meek ?  Matthew 5:5 . Perhaps it it better to approach this question by looking at the way meekness has been misinterpreted, now the word believe that meekness is the same thing as weakness  being doormat and let people run over you, this is not so,  In-fact the people that where  recorded in the bilble with the gift of meekness, where actually very strong men.

For example. Moses was bold enough to stand before pharaoh, considered the most powerful leader in his time as instructed by God, exodus 11, yet the bible recorded that he was the meekest man on earth Numbers 12:3.

Jesus chase the money changers out of the temple with a whip. John 2-13-17, cast demons  out and was in a position to ask God the father to send more legions of angels to his defence.  Matthew 26 : 53  Yet he said take my yoke upon you and learn of me,  for I am meek and lowly in heart.  Matthew 11: 29 .

What then is meekness ? it was taken from the greek word praus , which was used by three different type of people

The doctor  used it to describe a soothing medicine that would take away pain .
The Sailor used it to describe a lovely cool breeze that bring freshness and the Farnprauser used it to describe an axe that is broken and is able to be used

These three descriptions are  pointing to one direction which is power under control, Matthew 5:38-40 . It is the ability to stop the natural desire to rebel. In other words,  kill the flesh and conform to the image of God, and not aways wanting to fight our way or push our selves forward.  But submitting our selves to the lord in obedience  .

I truely  hope you have gained something out of this. Stay blessed as you make effort to be God best,
Amen.
